Overview

This Privacy Policy is part of the Terms of Use of the Site harvesthomefm.org website and applies to all visitors to the Site, including persons who purchase products, make donations or otherwise interact with us through the Site. This Privacy Policy describes what information we at Harvest Home Farmer’s Market (“HHFM”, “we”, “our” or “us”) collect on the Site or through the Services (as defined in the Terms of Use) and how we use that information.

We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time and we reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. We will post any changes to this Privacy Policy here so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and whether we will disclose that information to anyone. Please refer back to this Privacy Policy on a regular basis. By using our Site or the Services, or any of the products or resources that we provide on our Site, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, you should not use our Site. Your continued use of our Site following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy will mean that you accept those changes.

Collection and Use of Information

WHAT INFORMATION ABOUT YOU IS COLLECTED ON OUR SITE?

Information You Provide Us.  We collect information that identifies you or can be used to identify or contact you (“Personally Identifiable Information” or “PII”), which may include your name, social security number, address, email address, telephone number, billing information and other personally identifying information.

You do not have to provide us with any PII to visit our Site.  However, if you choose to withhold requested information for the Services, you may not be able to purchase certain products or services online, such as event tickets that are offered via our Site.

Information We Gather From Your Use of the Site or Services. We collect information about how you use the Site and the Services, which includes device-specific information, internet protocol addresses, location information, unique application numbers, demographic information, aggregated information and other information that does not reveal an individual’s specific identity.

WHERE AND WHEN INFORMATION IS COLLECTED ON OUR SITE

We may collect PII from you in different manners and at different places on our Site, such as when you subscribe to HHFM mailing list, express interest in sponsoring or partnering with us, submit a farmer or vendor application, apply for jobs or internships, post to our social media accounts (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and LinkedIn), post a comment to a blog entry or webpage on the Site or sign up to participate in an event, workshop or class.  In addition, when you purchase products from our Site or make a donation via the Site, PII is collected by us and by our third-party payment processors PayPal, Eventbrite and Stripe (each individually a “Payment Processor” or, collectively, “Payment Processors”).  You will be subject to the applicable Payment Processor’s privacy policy when using their payment processing services. The Payment Processor, not us, will collect and store your credit card or other payment information.  We will collect PII from you only if you voluntarily submit such information to us.

In addition, we use various technologies, which may include use of web beacons, web bugs, clear gifs, cookies and similar technologies (collectively, “Tracking Technologies”) to collect and store information when you visit our Site or use our Services to identify your browser or device. We may use Tracking Technologies for any lawful business purpose, including without limitation to determine which of our messages have been opened by recipients so we can gauge the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, to control the display of ads, to track usage patterns, the movements of individual users, and your geographic location, to help diagnose problems with our servers, to gather broad demographic information, to analyze trends or to conduct research.

USE OF INFORMATION THAT WE COLLECT

In general, we use PII and other information collected on our Site to help us understand who uses our Site, to improve our Site, to collect payments or donations you made via the Site and to correspond with you or otherwise follow up on any such transactions or inquiries. On occasion, we may use your PII to send you information on new products, promotions or upcoming events. However, if you do not wish to receive e-mailed marketing messages from us, please let us know by sending an e-mail to info@harvesthomefm.org or writing us using the contact information on the Contact  page of our Site.  We may also use PII and other information, including publicly available information, about you for our internal business purposes, such as data analysis, audits and so forth.  Because non-PII does not personally identify you, we reserve the right to use non-PII for any purpose, both internally and externally with third parties.

WHEN WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES

Except as set forth in this Privacy Policy, we will not disclose any information we gather from you on our Site.  We may disclose your PII if we believe in good faith that we are required by law to do so. We may disclose PII in special circumstances when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to protect the safety and/or security of our users, our Site, or the general public.

In addition, through our Site, you may be given the opportunity to purchase (or obtain more information regarding) certain content, products, or services which are sold through a person or entity other than us (collectively, “Third-Party Sellers”). Third-Party Sellers may request that you submit certain information to them on our Site in order to purchase their products or services or to obtain additional information from them. By submitting the requested information on our Site, you affirmatively consent to have that information shared with the Third-Party Seller. This information is used by the Third-Party Seller and may be subject to a privacy policy that is different from our Privacy Policy. We do not otherwise share or disclose your PII to Third-Party Sellers.

If you post personal information online, whether in connection with a blog post, social media account or otherwise, it will be publicly available and you may receive unsolicited messages from third parties. We cannot ensure the security of any information you choose to make public in a comment. Also, we cannot ensure that third parties who have access to such publicly available information will respect your privacy. Please exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal information in comments.

DOES THIS PRIVACY POLICY APPLY WHEN I LINK TO OTHER SITES?

Our Site contains links to other websites not owned or operated by HHFM. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices and performance of those websites. We encourage you to be aware when our Site links to other websites and read the privacy policies or statements of each and every website.

IS THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT SECURE?

We strive to secure transmission of your PII from your computer to our servers.  To help ensure the integrity and privacy of the PII you provide via the Internet at the time you purchase any product or donate online, the above mentioned third party e-commerce partners, PayPal, Eventbrite and Stripe, provide Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) digital security. Only employees or consultants who need access to your PII to perform a specific task or function are granted access to such PII. Notwithstanding the foregoing, no employee of HHFM will have access to your credit card information provided through this Site.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, you should be aware that there is always some risk involved in transmitting information over the Internet. There is also some risk that others could find a way to thwart or bypass our security systems. As a result, although we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security and privacy of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk.

CHOICES THAT I HAVE REGARDING THE COLLECTION, DISCLOSURE, AND DISTRIBUTION OF PII.

Except as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy, we will only use PII for the purposes described above or as otherwise disclosed at the time we request such information from you. You may “opt-out” of receiving other communications by contacting us at the e-mail address below.

 General Information

 UPDATING AND CORRECTING YOUR PII.

You can always contact us in order to (1) update or correct your PII, (2) change your preferences with respect to communications and other information you may receive from us, or (3) delete the PII maintained about you on our systems, by contacting us at the e-mail address below. Such updates, corrections, changes and deletions will not have an effect on other information that we maintain, or information that we have provided to third-parties in accordance with this Privacy Policy prior to such update, correction, change or deletion.

You should be aware that it is not technologically possible to remove each and every record of the information you have provided to us on our systems. The need to back up our systems to protect information from inadvertent loss means that a copy of your PII may exist in a non-erasable form that will be difficult or impossible for us to locate. After receiving your request, all PII stored in databases we actively use and other readily searchable media will be promptly updated, corrected, changed or deleted as appropriate.

 CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY.

If at any point we decide to use PII in a manner we deem significantly different from that stated in this Privacy Policy, or that we otherwise disclosed to you, at the time it was collected, we will notify you by posting changes on our Site in this Privacy Policy, or by email or otherwise in our sole discretion, and you will have a choice as to whether or not we use your PII in the new manner. We may also make non-significant changes to our Privacy Policy that generally will not affect our use of your PII.
